The Sheriff, an elected official, is the chief law enforcement officer for St. Louis County. The Sheriff's Department is responsible for all law enforcement activity in the unincorporated areas of St. Louis County. These include Patrol, Investigative and Support Services; Boat and Water Safety; Emergency Management; overseeing the Medical Examiner; maintaining the County Jail; and providing the Sheriff's Rescue Squad. |
