The County Auditor, an elected official, is the County's Chief Fiscal Officer, its Chief Tax Collector, its Clerk of the County Board, Registrar of Voters, and Supervisor of Elections.
The Auditor's Office performs financial accounting administration for St. Louis County and for other agencies; maintains property tax records; computes, bills, collects and accounts for property and other taxes levied on behalf of the County and its taxing authorities. The County Auditor maintains the official records of the County Board of Commissioners, is a Deputy Registrar of Motor Vehicle Licensing and is an agent of the DNR for game and fish licensing. The Auditor also performs drivers' license renewal functions for the State of Minnesota at the License Center Office. |

All of the Auditor's Office functions are operated out of their main office in the Duluth Courthouse, except for drivers' license renewals. St. Louis County Auditor Drivers' license renewals are provided only at the Auditor's License Center. The License Center also handles motor vehicle licensing services and property tax payments.
