Mortgage Foreclosure Data
There has been a great deal of media attention to foreclosures throughout the country and the state. Mortgage foreclosure rates have increased, but St. Louis County is not experiencing the number of vacant and damaged properties that is problematic in other areas. It appears that many of the foreclosures are directly related to the high number of refinanced mortgages which occurred over the past several years.Duluth Alt-A Mortgages

Lutheran Social Services, Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency and the Minnesota Homeownership Center provide counseling for homeowners. Information will be distributed on the workshops and the availablility of counseling.

The Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency, Inc (AEOC) provides homeowners in St. Louis County (excluding the City of Duluth) facing foreclosure with financial counseling, access to community resources, working with mortgage companies, information about the foreclosure process and financial assistance (as available).
Lutheran Social Services offers financial counseling services to individuals facing credit and and debt problems with budget counseling, housing counseling, and community education programs.
The Minnesota Home Ownership Center connects individuals with information regarding available education and counseling services.
