Fees for disposal of solid wastes are set by the St. Louis County Board. Rates differ by the type of material. Additional disposal charges* apply to garbage generated outside of the management area.
We do not accept cash at any of our solid waste sites. Payment may be made by check or by punch coupon at all sites, or by electronic disposal card, VISA, or MasterCard at the Regional Landfill, Brookston, Cook, Hibbing, Hudson, and Northwoods Transfer Stations.
Fees for wastes generated within the solid waste management area.
Household garbage:
- $1.00 per 32 gallon garbage bag/can, or
- $45.63 per ton (only at sites with scales)
Mattresses and box springs: $8.00 each piece.
Demolition material:
- $13.50 per cubic yard, or
- $30.67 per ton (only at sites with scales)
Asbestos is accepted only at the Regional Landfill at $72.54 per cubic yard.

- $2.37 per 32 gallon garbage bag/can, or
- $106.99 per ton (only at sites with scales)
Mattresses and box springs: $16.00 each piece.
Demolition material:
- $19.50 per cubic yard, or
- $42.67 per ton (only at sites with scales)
Asbestos is accepted only at the Regional Landfill at $108.81 per cubic yard.
