An employee in this class preserves order and control in courtrooms and common areas of the courthouses to ensure the safety of court officials, participants, and the general public.  Duties include monitoring and screening individuals, packages and personal items entering and leaving the courtroom using a variety of detection methods and devices; assisting in providing security during heightened security situations; assisting with emergency medical situations as needed; obtaining defendants identifying information in accordance with applicable laws; directing and escorting non-combative custodial individuals within the courhouse.  The work is performed in accordance with established Departmental policies under the supervision and authority of the Sheriff's Office, and in conjunction with other courthouse staff.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent Possession of a valid driver's license Candidates with related training in law enforcement, military law enforcement or private security training and/or related experience are preferred.
