Public Health Nursing

The St. Louis County Public Health Nursing Division works with local, regional, state, and federal partners to protect, promote, and improve the health and quality of life in St. Louis County.

Public Health professional expertise is offered to community groups to assist them in addressing local health concerns.

Public Health Nursing Programs and Services

We work to improve community health through:

Women Infants and Children (WIC)- provides special foods and nutrition education to pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants and children to age five.

Superior Babies- Comprehensive education and support for pregnant clients with chemical use issues from a public health nurse and chemical health social worker.

Child & Teen Checkups- Includes a physical exam, development check, immunizations, health education, vision and hearing check, lab tests and a nutrition check for children and teens age 2 weeks through 21 years.

Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP)- seeks to improve each mother's chance for a healthier birth, improve the baby’s health, facilitate the child's growth and development and support the mother's life and health.

Immunizations- Childhood and adult immunizations are available at day and evening clinics each month.  Get information about local immunization clinics and other resources.

Community Health Promotion- Community assessment, education and programming to improve health.  Expertise is offered to community groups to address local health concerns.
