Duluth Courthouse Landscaping
Plans are being drawn to update the landscaping at the Duluth Courthouse. The crab apple trees that were in front of the courthouse were removed in the fall of 2004 as they were beyond their life span for potted trees. They will be replaced in the summer of 2006. In addition, new shrubs and perennials will be planted.

Duluth Motor Pool Green Roof
On January 25, 2005 the County Board of Commissioners gave the Property Management Director approval to proceed with a grant application for the installation of a green roof on the Duluth Motor Pool building.

Nopeming Property
In November of 2002, the Nopeming Nursing Home closed, and the residents were transferred to the Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center. On November 23, 2004 the County Board approved putting the property up for sale. The sale of the property was finalized on December 16, 2005

Solar Projects
Solar panel collectors were installed on the roof of the Duluth Motor Pool, and in the County’s parking ramp on 3rd street as part of the electrical conservation efforts to reduce lighting costs.

Virginia Area Space Planning
The Northland Office Building-Master Plan and the Virginia Courthouse-Master Plan will identify in block diagram form the location within each building the location of each department scheduled to be located in the building. A "One Stop" shopping concept will be configured in the plan to accommodate efficient customer service in the Northland Office Building. The Virginia Courthouse-Master Plan will diagram building additions or adjacent relocations to address the space needs of departments located in or wishing to be in the Courthouse.
