Gun Violence Prosecution Initiative
In response to the growing threat to public safety and the lives of law enforcement officers who protect us, the St. Louis County Attorney's Office, with the help of a Federal grant through Project Safe Neighborhoods, has initated a Gun Violence Prosecution Initiative. Under the direction of Assistant County Attorney Mark Rubin, the office is initiating a coordinated effort to respond more aggressively and consistently to gun violence offenses in St. Louis County. Under the project, a protocol for the investigation and prosecution of gun violence cases in St. Louis County is being designed. Input has been obtained from all law enforcement agencies and prosecutors on expectations, goals and outcomes on gun-related cases.
The goal of the program is to create a safer community through the effective and consistent enforcement of existing gun laws and to coordinate the enforcement of gun laws between Federal and State prosecution and investigative authorities.
