Volunteer Opportunities


Coffee & Conversation - Serve coffee and visit with residents.

County Store Clerk - Assist residents in selecting merchandise, inventory, price, stock and sell merchandise and open and close the store.

Activity Helpers - Transport residents to and from activities, lead group activities (bowling, cards, table games, bingo, etc.) or do individual activities with residents.

Resident Escort - Accompany residents on a medical van to and from pre-arranged medical appointments. Visit with and reassure residents.

Pet Visitors - Bring friendly, healthy and well behaved pets to visit residents. Pets must meet the Health Department’s and program regulations.

Telephone Receptionist - Answer in-coming calls, transfer calls, take messages, greet and direct visitors, sort mail, file and other clerical functions.

Clerical Assistants - Type, file, photocopy, sort and other clerical duties.

Indoor Gardener - Provide plant care on all wings and in dining areas.

Outdoor Gardener - Plant, weed and water outdoor gardens and flower baskets.

Visitors - Develop one-to-one relationships with individual residents.

Newspaper Reader - Inform residents of the latest events from local to international; play trivia and reminisce.

Movie Attendant - Transport residents to and from on-site movies, take attendance, serve popcorn, view film with residents and respond to residents’ needs during the movie.

Memorial Assistant - Help serve after funeral/memorial service.

Craft Leader - Plan resident craft projects and conduct Craft Group teaching/assisting residents with craft projects.

Special Event Assistants - Help with resident outings, accompany on short local trips (out to lunch, casino trips, bingo hall, etc.).

Greeter - Welcome new residents, provide them with a tour and information on Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Special Projects - Make posters reflecting resident’s life, preferences, hobbies, work/leisure activities, accomplishments, travels, etc. to help us get to know the resident.

Ice Water Server - Deliver ice water to resident’s rooms.

Clothing Helpers - Put resident’s laundered clothing in closet/drawers. Help locate missing items.

Dining Assistants - Assist residents at meal times, encourage eating, bring trays, distribute napkins/hand wipes, open containers, cut food and assist resident with eating. Training provided.

Dining Room Hostess/Host - Transport residents to dining room, distribute and collect hand wipes, provide napkins, obtain resident’s tray, open containers, encourage eating and clear trays after the meal.

Mail Time - Sort, deliver and read mail to the residents. Assist residents with writing letters.

Menders/Sewers - Make wheelchair pockets, lap robes, coverlets for continence products or do light mending of resident’s clothing. Do at home projects.

Musicians/Singers - Entertain resident for special programs.
