On Tuesday, December 11, 2007, the St. Louis County Board passed the 2008-2009 Operating and Capital Budget. The 2008 St. Louis County budget totals $334,492,528, which allows the county to carry out high quality yet efficient services to citizens in the areas of planning and zoning, land management, solid waste, public works, public health, human services, criminal justice, economic development and general government services. The county will levy $101,568,092 in property tax dollars for these services.
St. Louis County’s property tax increased 4.27%, which is a lower percent increase than 75 of 87 Minnesota counties. The average for all Minnesota counties was 7.26%, and 17 counties in the state reported double-digit increases.
