County Commissioner Joanne Fay Named Statewide Extension Committee Board Chair

The Association of Minnesota Counties and the University of Minnesota Extension Program are pleased to announce the re-appointment of St. Louis County Commissioner Joanne Fay as the AMC Extension Committee Board Chair.

The AMC Extension Committee was established by the AMC Board of Directors for the purpose of strengthening the partnership between county government and the University of Minnesota.

The University of Minnesota Extension Service is committed to lifelong learning by connecting community needs with University of Minnesota resources. For the people of Minnesota, the University of Minnesota and its Extension service have helped build and sustain strong families, businesses, farms and communities for more than a century. More than 800,000 Minnesotans participate in Extension programs annually that focus on a variety of topics such as the latest research for farmers; helping families make wise nutrition choices; helping communities with local development projects; and training volunteers to maintain Minnesota's shore land. This unique form of outreach intentionally builds knowledge capacity at the local level.

Commissioner Fay has been actively involved with all levels of the extension program. She is a tireless worker promoting the best interests of the residents of Minnesota. Commissioner Fay also serves on the following related boards including: St. Louis County Extension, Great Lake Coastal Council, Northeast Minnesota Sustainable Development Partnership and the North Shore Scenic Drive Committee. She is an active advocate for the Duluth Farm Market building committee, the St. Louis County 4-H camp, and the Master Gardening Program.
