SLC to allow WWII Vets extra time to submit names

for inclusion in County WWII Book

St. Louis County officials announced last week the upcoming publication of their long-awaited SLC WWII history book. Since this announcement, several WWII Vets or their surviving family members have asked county officials about whether their biographical information was included in the book. "Along with other County Board members, I have received calls from WWII Veterans wishing to be included in the commemorative book, but did not submit biographical information when it was requested. Therefore, the County Board took action yesterday to offer a window of opportunity to Veterans who would like the record of their service preserved in the volume," said Board Chair Steve Raukar of Hibbing.

For the 4,400 SLC WWII Vets or family members who sent in biographical information to the St. Louis County Veterans Service Office within the past six years, all of their profiles are included in the book. For those did not originally submit their name and biographical information, it is not too late. Because of the high level of interest and inquiry expressed by the public, the county board is giving St. Louis County WWII Vets another chance to have your name and biography added to the book. If you or one of your family members who served in WWII did not submit this information previously to the county and would like to still be given your very deserving recognition in this keepsake WWII history book, please immediately call: Wilson Spence at St. Louis County Veterans Office at 1-800-450-9777 Ext. 7110. The deadline for supplemental biography submissions is June 25th! There is no charge for submissions, and the book, published this summer, will be available at a nominal cost to the public.
