NEWS RELEASE

St. Louis County WWII Veterans History Book to be Published

In honor of the 60th Anniversary of D-Day on June 6th, the St. Louis County Board will be announcing the publication of a new book which chronicles the stories and profiles of World War II Veterans from St. Louis County. A press conference will be held today, 1:30 PM Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at the North Shore Scenic Railroad Lobby, below Michigan Street and 4th Avenue West, to debut the book’s publication.

For over six years, the St. Louis County Veterans Services Office along with a special WWII Commemorative Committee has been gathering service records and war stories from St. Louis County’s 4,400 WWII Veterans. The results will be published in a hardcover keepsake book later this year.

The St. Louis County Board and its Veteran Services Office have invited some of the WWII Vets that contributed profiles for the book to be present at the press conference.
