St. Louis County Auditor Candidates

Following a comprehensive recruitment and selection process, Chair Steve Raukar announced that the St. Louis County Board of Commissioners has certified four (4) candidates as finalists for the County Auditor position. Don Dicklich, Maureen Langguth, Jon Monacelli, and Janet Seafolk are the finalists for St. Louis County Auditor. Due to the retirement of County Auditor Gordon McFaul on December 31, 2003, the St. Louis County Board is authorized under state statute to appoint an individual to complete the unexpired term of office (through 2006).

Don Dicklich, of Saginaw, Minnesota, has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota, and is the Director of Administrative Services for Iron Range Resources in Eveleth, Minnesota. Prior to that, he was the agency’s Chief Financial Officer.

Maureen Langguth of Duluth, Minnesota, has a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Management from the College of St. Scholastica, and has coursework for an Executive Masters of Business Administration from the College of St. Thomas. She is the Chief Deputy Auditor for St. Louis County.

Jon Monacelli of Virginia, Minnesota, has a Bachelor of Science degree from Bemidji State University, with an Accounting major. He is pursuing a Masters in Management from the College of St. Scholastica. Monacelli is the Chief Executive Officer of Fortune Bay Casino in Tower, Minnesota.

Janet Seafolk of Duluth, Minnesota, has a Bachelor of Accounting degree from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She has served as Internal Auditor for the St. Louis County Auditor’s Office, and was a longtime Local Government Audit Director for the Minnesota Office of the State Auditor.

The St. Louis County Auditor is the Chief fiscal officer of the County, the Custodian of County funds, Chief tax collector for the County and its political subdivisions, Clerk of the County Board of Commissioners, Registrar of voters, and Supervisor of elections. Individual interviews will be March 8, 2004; and a public interview session will be at 10:00 AM March 12, 2004 in the Commissioners Conference Room of the St. Louis County Courthouse in Duluth.
