The St. Louis County Court Administrator's Office offers three full-functioning court operations for the convenience of residents throughout our large county. Duluth, the county seat, is the largest courthouse in which eight judges chamber and preside. Two judges chamber and preside in Hibbing and three in Virginia. One magistrate serves the needs of the expedited child support process at all three courthouses and St. Louis County court staff travel once a month to Ely to conduct court.
The St. Louis County Court Administrator's Office is part of the Sixth Judicial District. There are ten districts in the State of Minnesota. The Sixth District is made up of four counties, including Carlton, Cook, Lake and St. Louis. Each judicial district combines the efforts of a district administrative office with its county court administrators to effectively serve the needs of justice in their respective service areas.
